Ahh yes, the Blackberry Bold, the most aesthetically beautiful
QWERTY phone today… and sure enough, for most, the dealbreaker to buy
this phone has got to be its battery life. Having used a
Blackberry Bold myself since November 2008, i came up with a list of 11
ways to actually converse and to prolong its battery life. And believe
me, i managed to increase its battery life up to approximately 25% to
30%. And of course, to be able to do that, some sacrifices have to be
made to the settings of this phone as well. So here goes.
1. Backlight Brightness
Goto your Options, then head on to Screen/Keyboard, look under Backlight Brightness,
execute it and scroll it real down to ‘10′. Surely it won’t be as
bright as it normally should but it certainly still looks readable (even in the dark) and
is of an above average acceptable level.
2. Reducing Unwanted Applications
Certain applications especially third party ones do load at startup. I
have decided not to name any here, and obviously the more applications
you load into the RAM of the Bold, the more battery juice and
processing power it needs. So to do this, kick up your Blackberry Desktop Manager, hit up Application Loader,
and start removing those applications which you find that you do not
need at all. List them by priority and obviously those at the bottom of
the list should be sacrificed and removed. Start by removing unused languages, then to other applications that you do not use. Prioritize them.
3. Shutdown Programs That Are Running In The Background
Everybody loves to install cool, new and at the same time
useful programs on their Bold, and as time goes by, you’d normally find
that you need not use that particular program all the time. So instead
of removing them, try to turn it off or log them off. To find out what
programs are loaded into the memory or are running in the background,
hit the ALT-Back key (for newer OS’s of the Bold, hold down the MENU
key for a second or 2) . Once you have found out that particular
program that you want to take off from the memory or background, scroll towards it or execute it, and then log it off or quit or shut it down
manually.
